STAR Molten Metal Treatment System
The STAR™ is a mobile or stationary rotary degassing system for aluminium foundries and diecasters, available in many models. In spinning-rotor degassing/fluxing systems, a metered amount of inert gas and/or flux is injected into the molten aluminium through the rotating graphite shaft and rotor. The STAR rotor shears the inert gas into tiny bubbles and disperses them evenly throughout the melt. Unwanted hydrogen gas and non-metallic inclusions are attracted to the inert gas bubbles and rise to the surface. The flux injection allows a steady flow of flux below the metal line which promotes oxide entrapment. The combined effect of gas injection and fluxing helps improve the quality of aluminium alloys and reduces overall operating costs.

Bonded Particle Filter (BPF)
The unique Pyrotek Metaullics® bonded particle filter (BPF®) is especially useful in aluminium gravity casting (permanent mold), pressure diecasting, low-pressure, squeeze cast, and high-performance sand foundries to remove inclusions. It is used in both melting and casting furnaces where sustained use of one to four months per filter is typical. The above picture shows various aluminium castings that benefit from filtration. Bonded particle filters are produced from high-purity silicon carbide aggregate, and feature excellent strength for better handling; great durability and chemical resistance for long life; high thermal conductivity to minimize thermal gradients; greater filtration efficiency through a complex internal structure; and proven cost-effectiveness.

MZR-750 System
The Metaullics® Zinkoff Recovery System (MZR) makes in-house recovery a viable option for galvanizers and zinc processors. At the heart of the MZR is a thermo-mechanical device able to separate free zinc from material mixtures and top drosses. The MZR is a highly efficient in-house industrial system able to recover nonferrous metal from industrial process wastes and top drosses including, hot-dip skimmings and dust, continuous galvanizing top dross, primary and secondary zinc refining operations. The recovered zinc is both technically and commercially acceptable for direct reuse into the process, and any ZnO residues can be sold.
