Custom Filter Boxes
Custom filter boxes are also designed, constructed and installed by Pyrotek.
Filter boxes use porous media filters to remove inclusions from molten aluminum. We design and build our filter boxes based on your unique application. Our systems are engineered to provide a sound solution for your filter requirements.
- Horizontal filters are positioned horizontally within the filter box
- Vertical filters are positioned vertically within the filter box
Pre-Cast Liner Assemblies
Manufactured refractory shapes which can be inserted into a steel shell and placed into service immediately. |
Insulation Package
Our insulation packages minimize heat loss, lowers the steel shell skin temperature, and reduces furnace temperatures. This eliminates steelwork movement due to the thermal expansion, and provides uniform refractory temperatures throughout the shape. We believe the insulation package is as important as the liner itself.

Support
Structural support is designed for zero deflection of the filter boxes in the heated and fully operational modes. This eliminates unneccessary trough movement. Support must be located to allow for ease of maintenance and proper load distribution. |
Electrical Heating Systems
Our electrical heating systems are precast, engineered modules which incorporate a hard refractory hot face and Kanthal resistance wire to produce watt densities and power beyond that which is available from typical vacuum manufactured fiber systems. We provide complementary and unique electrical heating systems.

Auxiliary Systems
These auxiliary systems include automatic tilting cover systems and gas and electric heating systems to preheat the filter box.
