Pyrocast M70

Pyrocast M70 is a metallic fiber-reinforced precast refractory shape. Its unique design allows addition of metallic reinforcing fibers at levels significantly above those used in traditionally designed refractory castables. The finished shapes have enhanced mechanical toughness and surface finish. Pyrocast M70 shapes have excellent hot strength, thermal shock resistance, and abrasion resistance in all directions due to random fiber distribution and alignment. It can withstand a wide variety of very destructive high temperature environments and is sold as preformed, prefired shapes.

Advantages

  • Volume stable with a unique toughness for high-wear applications
  • Highly controlled forming process, allowing a high concentration of metallic fibers
  • Reheat tensile strengths exceed 10,000 psi (69 MPa)
  • Consistent, quality shapes, formed under controlled conditions with optimum external vibration, then thoroughly dried before shipping to the customer
  • Fibers randomly aligned prevent lower mechanical properties parallel to fiber planes
  • Excellent corrosion resistance, high density, low porosity and high refractoriness for a metal fiber-containing product
  • Metal fiber type carefully chosen to provide high toughness, enhanced refractoriness and high flexural strength
  • Maintains strength after thermal shock
  • Fibers ensure structural integrity after thermal cycling
  • High abrasion resistance
  • Excellent for applications up to 2200°F (1204°C)

Applications

  • Furnace jambs
  • Furnace lintels
  • Furnace top rings
  • Sills
  • Transfer troughs
  • Skim rakes for large furnaces
  • Furnace stirring tools
  • Impact pads
  • Impellers
  • Furnace foundry lids
  • Exhaust flue linings
