The increasing use of aluminium for a wide variety of product applications has been supported by the industry’s ability to recycle aluminium effectively. Careful optimization of the melting process is an important requirement for the economic recycling of aluminium. The increased use of aluminium products has placed an emphasis on processing the scrap created through manufacturing.
The propensity for aluminium to oxidize increases the metal surface tension, causing light gauge charge materials to remain on the surface of the molten metal. This causes further oxidation, and subsequent melt loss from the chips. The LOTUSS* system, greatly reduces this effect, permitting high metal recovery rates and increased productivity, without using expensive hard to maintain mechanical charging or submerging equipment.
