Maintenance of the EMP System is very straightforward with most operators of EMP Systems carrying out routine maintenance once per year during annual shutdowns. The HMI (Human Machine Interface) situated on the EMP control panel provides a front screen with graphical indication of the complete system status. Navigating through the HMI allows maintenance personnel to perform system testing and monitor alarm history and operators to learn more about the EMP system using the information screens. Maintenance is a relatively rare occurrence with EMP. Some installations experience operational lives of up to 2 years - or approximately 4 million tonnes of pumped aluminium - before replacing the silicon carbide tube. Tube replacement can be done in 8 hours or if you have a spare pump the job can be done in 4 hours. |
