Top Loading Furnace
This illustration shows the EMP system fitted to a top loading circular furnace. In a furnace of this type, aluminium is taken from the perimeter of the furnace and pumped into the center. Consequently, the scrap pile at the centre of the furnace is reduced very quickly. Melt rate increases significantly whilst ensuring excellent homogeneity throughout the furnace. Flow directions can be changed by reversing the pump which gives exceptionally flexible operation for a round furnace. This type of operation has also been fitted to top loading dry hearth operations. It is possible to install an EMP system on many different types of reverberatory furnace.
