Sidewell Furnace

Illustrated here is the EMP system in design before fitting to a 45 tonne sidewell furnace.

In a furnace of this type, the aluminium is drawn through the pump into the vortex chamber and then returned along the length of the sidewell (furnace chargewell) back into the furnace through the existing side well arch.

The EMP can operate at low bath levels, provides for more dross well space (no need for a mechanical pump well) and can also transfer metal - furnace to furnace or furnace to ladle.

It is possible to install an EMP system on many different types of reverberatory furnace.
