Wollite 30ST-1 Insulating Castable for Glass Manufacturers
Wollite 30ST-1 is a pourable, light weight mineral foam insulation material. After mixing and pouring Wollite 30ST-1 in a liquid state, it expands and solidifies within a matter of minutes to a consistent density of approximately 30 lb/ft3 (480 kg/m3). Wollite 30ST-1 is composed primarily of wollastanite which is a calcium silicate (CaSiO3) material. Because of the consistency of the pourable mix, and due to the foaming properties, the material is well suited for insulating refractory spouts and orifice rings used by glass manufacturers.
Wollite 30ST-1 seeps into voids in the spout casing and in the orifice ring pan allowing for more consistent insulation with no hot spots. This results in more even temperatures and better control of the glass melt and gob weight. In addition, it takes less time to remove and reinstall Wollite 30ST-1 which allows for shorter refractory change out times.
Applications
- Back-up insulation
- Furnace refractories
- Spout refractories
- Orifice rings
Advantages
- More consistent spout and orifice ring temperatures—eliminates hot spots
- Shorter down time when changing out spouts and orifice rings
- Easier and safer removal and reinstallation
- Energy cost savings due to better insulation efficiency
